The following is a guide for those Player who would like to play Lineage 1.5 on their Macintosh Computer.
The Lineage Client Program is only available for playing on the Windows Operating System so, if you want to
Lineage 1.5 on your Macintosh, you will need to be able to run Window also. This is possible in to ways. Your
first option is to use an emulation program, like Parallels which, will run in the Macintosh Operation system or
you can use Boot Camp.
With the emulation type program you install the Program into the Mac OS and then Install Windows into
the Program and then install the Lineage Client Into Windows. This means that every packet of
communication Between the Lineage 1.5 Server and the Lineage Client needs to be Processed through the
Macintosh Operating System, The Emulation Program and the Windows Operating System. It has been my
personal experience that this puts some very heavy demands onto the typical Macintosh System configured
for the Home user. The Plus side of this is that you don’t have to reboot your system to switch between Mac
OS programs and Windows programs. The Minus side is this puts heavy demands on the on the Computer,
which in my case translated to a lot of Lag and noticeably slower responsiveness from my Home Computer
and the Software costs around $80.00
The other Option is to use Apple’s Bootcamp. Apple has recognized that most home users who might
want to run one or two Windows Programs do not want to invest in a Work Station Configuration of Home
Computer so they created the Boot Camp to allow o Mac User to also run Windows when they choose to. The
Plus side is Windows runs Natively on the Apple Hardware and it is is also Free as it is included as part of the
Utilities Package that installed with your Macintosh OS. The Minus column of this choice is that you are only
able to run the Windows Operating System or only Macintosh Operating System at one time. To switch back
and forth between them means you must Reboot your Computer into the other operating system.
So, if you’re choosing to you Boot Camp here is what you need to know. These Instruction are for installing Windows 10. To install Window 10 with Boot Camp requires one of these Mac Models:
A MacBook introduced in 2015 or newer
A MacBook Air introduced in 2012 or newer
A MacBook Pro introduced in 2012 or newer
An iMac introduced in 2012 or newer
An iMac mini introduced in 2012 or newer
An iMac Pro, all models
A Mac Pro introduced in 2013 or newer
Before you begin, ensure you Mac OS is up-to-date. To do this, Open your System Preferences, under the Apple Menu. When the System Preferences window opens select Software Update. If there are updates present, click the update now button and follow the prompts until complete.
Next back up your Mac. To do this you will need an external storage device of sufficient capacity to hold all your goodies, in my case it is a 2TB USD External Hard Drive. Plug the Drive into your Mac. Open System Preferences, under the apple Menu, and select Time Machine. When the Time Machine window opens click the Select Disk button. Then select your external drive and click the Use Disk button. Now settle in to wait, this usually takes a while. When your back-up is complete, begin.
Boot Camp assistance requires:
A Minimum of 64GB of space available on your computers Startup disk minimum, but at least 128GB of free storage space provides the best experience. Automatic Windows updates require that much space or more.
An external USB flash drive with a storage capacity of 16GB or more, unless you’re using a Mac that does not require a flash drive to install Windows. These Mac’s are:
A MacBook that is 2015 or newer.
A MacBook Air that is 2015 or newer.
A MacBook Pro that is 2015 or newer.
An iMac that is 2015 or newer.
An iMac Pro, All Models.
A Mac Pro from Late 2013 or newer.
A 64-bit version of Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro on a disk image (ISO) or other installation media. If installing Windows on your Mac for the first time, this must be a full version of Windows, not an upgrade.
If your copy of Windows came on a USB flash drive, or you have a Windows product key and no installation disc, download a Windows 10 disk image from Microsoft
If your copy of Windows came on a DVD, you might need to create a disk image of that DVD.
When all of this is collected it is time to begin to install Windows Use Boot Camp Assistant Boot Camp Assistant is inside the Applications folder that is inside the Utilities. Double-click Bootcamp Assistant to begin.
Use Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows partition.
If you’re asked to insert a USB drive, plug your USB flash drive into your Mac. Boot Camp Assistant will use it to create a bootable USB drive for Windows installation.
When Boot Camp Assistant asks you to set the size of your partition remember the suggestions above because once these are set they cannot be changed later.
Format the Windows (Boot Camp) Partition.
When Bootcamp is finished creating the Partition it will automatically restart you Mac into the Windows Installer. This begins with formatting the disk. In most cases the Installer will automatically select the Boot Camp partition and format it but it you are prompted for disk, select Boot Camp and press the format button.
Unplug any extra devices that are not necessary and then click Next to begin the Windows Installer. Answer any prompts and follow the instructions to Install Windows.
When the windows installation is complete your computer will be restarted automatically and the it will open in windows. When complete it will open into a Window that reads “Welcome to the Boot Camp Installer.” Follow the onscreen instructions to install Boot Camp and windows support software (the drivers), and then you will be asked to restart your computer.
If this does not begin automatically, manually start the Boot Camp Installer and use it to complete the Boot Camp Installation. It happens sometimes that your Mac may restart several times, just roll with it. Also, if you use the thunderbolt 3 port to connect your monitor you can expect your screen to be a blank dark color for a few minutes along the way, again roll with it.
Your Mac will once again restart and open into a fully functioning Windows 10 environment. Now open the Web Browser, go to https://www.l15server.com, click on the “Guides” Tab, click on the “Connect Guide” and follow Zajako’s very easy to follow instruction.
To switch between Operating Systems simply restart you Mac and Hold down the option key. When the Start up Manager window opens, select your desired system and it will start. Have fun!
